The programming or development phase may begin once the design phase is completed. This phase involves the translating of design specifications into a software program code. The systems analysts, along with programmers, prepare specifications for each programme in the system. The specifications describe what each programme will do and what type of computer language will be used. They also specify the inputs and outputs, the processing logic and schedules as well as the control statements. The control statements are statements that determine the sequence or order that things are completed.
The size of the project will determine the number of people writing the programmes for example the larger systems may have thousands of lines of programme to be input and therefore require a large team of programmers.
The systems analyst may well be the most influential on the design and
programming team as they are able to encourage the end-users to use the
new system and listen to the input made by the end-users and maintain a
professional manner at all time.
