Systems Development Life Cycle

Design

According to Laudon and Laudon the design phase is the

"stage in the systems lifecycle that produces the logical and physical design specifications for the systems solution."

Whilst completing this phase the systems analyst has may questions to answer.

The systems analyst in answering these questions may produce a number of alternative solutions and possibly a prototype system.

This prototype will be limited and should be able to give management an idea of the way in which the completed system will work.

The systems analyst is then able to modify the prototype until the specified requirements are met.  Once these requirements are met the details can be filled in, the input and output files and the data files and the processing and system controls.
